Louisiana Baptist Youth Fellowship
This year (2009), Louisiana Baptist Youth Fellowship was the best camp I've ever been to in my life. I am not the only one who feels this way. Walnut Hill MBC out of Vivian, LA sponsored this years camp, and did an excellent job. They lined up some great preachers who shared only truths, strong and impactful, from God's Word. They lined up a GodStrong (a worship group) who directed music in such a way that not only didn't distract from worship, but actually helped move our hearts toward worship. After worshiping God in song, the majority of those in attendance came to the altar to pray before the sermon, already feeling God moving. We had about 130 in attendance by the end of the week. Of these, 6 or more souls professed Christ as their Savior (HALLELUJAH!) one of them being an adult sponsor (AMEN!). Probably Over two thirds of those in attendance stood up when asked how many made a renewed commitment to serve the LORD. When asked how many were revived, all stood.
The lessons were also incredible. Brother Richard Methvin wrote the lessons for the week and they all focused on the theme "The Game of Life." They taught how God's rulebook for the game of life is the Bible, and how the game of life isn't really a game after all. They covered topics including salvation, Ten Commandments, Tithe and Offering (giving back to God), and overall service to the LORD. The children seemed to benefit greatly from these lessons and the age-group divisions.
Walnut Hill not only lined up people who let God move in them during worship services, but they also organized game show games which went along with the week's theme. Many of the kids loved this game time and enjoyed just sharing fellowship with one another. The game shows played included Bible Jeopardy, Bible Wheel of Fortune, Christian and Gospel "Name That Tune" and Christian and Gospel "Singing Bee." The kids were thrilled, cheering for their favorite contestants and yelling out what they should do.
Next year, Eastside in Minden will be hosting LBYF. If you were not able to attend this year, you missed a great blessing. If at all possible, don't let it happen to you again.
